  Thallus endophloeodal to epiphloeodal, to c. 600 µm thick, pale greenish grey to yellowish grey, dull to glossy, smooth, ±verrucose, rimose or not; verrucae near ascomata often eroded, exposing the white medulla. Cortex continuous, to c. 50 µm thick, formed by irregular to periclinal hyphae, or the thallus with a thin discontinuous protocortex. Algal layer well developed, continuous; calcium oxalate crystals large, clustered. Vegetative propagules not seen. Ascomata inconspicuous, to c. 1.5 mm diam., ±rounded to irregular, perithecioid, solitary, immersed to distinctly emergent, then verrucose-irregular to verrucose-hemispherical. Disc and proper exciple not visible from above. Thalline rim margin to 0.1 mm diam., ±rounded, entire, thin to moderately thick, often sunken, concolorous with the thallus to brownish or dark grey; thalline rim incurved. Proper exciple fused, moderately thin to moderately thick in upper parts, yellowish brown to brownish internally and at the base, dark brown or, rarely, carbonised marginally and in the upper parts, distinctly prosoplecten-chymatous, occasionally amyloid at the base. Hymenium to c. 300 µm thick, not inspersed, moderately conglutinated; paraphyses ±bent to distinctly curly towards the slightly thickened tips, parallel to slightly interwoven, unbranched; columellar structures absent. Epihymenium hyaline, lacking granules. Asci 1–2-spored; tholus initially thick, thin when mature. Ascospores muriform, oblong-ellipsoidal, with ±rounded to narrowly rounded ends, hyaline to yellowish or pale brownish when old, distinctly amyloid, 150–250 × 20–50 µm, with numerous locules; locules ±angular, subglobose to irregular; transverse septa thin, regular; ascospore wall thin, non-halonate; endospore thin. Pycnidia not seen.
CHEMISTRY: Thallus K–, C–, P–; containing convirensic acid (major), hypoprotocetraric acid (major), 4-O-demethylnotatic acid (trace).
     
  Rare in montane rainforest in north-eastern Qld, at altitudes of 1130–1200 m; Palaeotropical.
